Khan Academy is a fun interactive learning website for kids in elementary school and middle school. They have fun math lessons, and they also have a computer programming section.
Math
The math section of Khan Academy has mastery challenges and practices. So students can earn mastery awards for certain areas in math. They have 694 different skills to practice and more added all the time! The students do the individual skills about 4 times over a couple of days before they can get masteries. Students can also earn different badges. They also can customize their profile with the avatars and badges they earn. They also have different levels of knowledge for each skill like, practiced, level 1, level 2, and mastered so teachers can tell where their students are in the World of Math.
Khan Academy’s math section teaches kids all sorts of skills for different grades like fractions, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and many more! Students earn XP points for doing well on mastery challenges and practices.
Computer Programming
This section of Khan Academy teaches the art of programming. They teach students the basics first then in the further stages teach kids how to make games, visualizations, artwork, and even movies all made by programming codes! Students watch videos on the different skills in computer programming then the do challenges to confirm they understand the skill. The students can earn special badges and avatars for their profile and badge showcases. You can design your own pictures and use fractions and variables to change the size with only one number.
For Teachers
Teachers can set up classes for students to join so they can view their students’ progress. They have charts showing the amount of masteries their students have and things that their students struggle with. Khan Academy helps students with math and programming no matter how old or young they are and all you have to do is set up an account!
